Enhancv alternatives

Enhancv is the competitor on this page I find it hardest to write a comparison against, and the reason is worth stating up front rather than burying.

Of every vendor here, Enhancv is the one that has put a fabrication policy in public. Their resume builder page says the output is “Built from your real experience only, with no AI hallucinations or invented facts”, that “Every rewrite and suggestion is grounded in your real experience, never invented”, and — the detail that suggests someone thought about the actual failure mode — that when a line needs a number the tool cannot know, it drops in a placeholder instead of inventing the figure.

That last one is the tell of a team that has looked at real output. The invented metric is the classic failure of AI resume writing, and a placeholder is exactly the right behaviour.

So why would you look for an alternative?

Three honest reasons, none of which are “they lie”.

Design-first is not always what you need. Enhancv’s centre of gravity is a good-looking document. If your problem is that your content is not aimed at the specific job, layout is not the lever.

A stated policy is a claim, not a mechanism. This is the real distinction, and it is not a dig — it applies to every vendor including mine. “We don’t invent facts” is a promise about how a system was built. It is different in kind from output you can inspect claim by claim, where each line on the finished document carries a verdict and the evidence it rests on. Both can be true and honest; only one lets you check today’s document rather than trust the policy behind it.

Price transparency. Their pricing page rendered the free tier fine to an automated read on 2026-08-26 — all templates, basic sections, Enhancv branding, a cap of 12 section items — but the paid plan’s figure never resolved. That is very probably a client-side rendering quirk rather than anything deliberate, and it is why there is no paid price quoted on this page. I would rather leave a gap visible than fill it from a third-party blog, which is the same principle the whole site is built on.

What to carry over if you do switch

Whatever you move to, keep Enhancv’s placeholder behaviour as your benchmark. It is the single best thing in this category’s public material, and it makes a clean test:

Give the tool a truthful but sparse resume and a job description demanding a metric you have never measured. A tool matching Enhancv’s stated standard leaves a marked gap. A tool below it hands you a number. The number will look reasonable — that is precisely the problem, because you will not catch it on a reread, and the person who does catch it will be an interviewer asking you to walk through it.
