AI resume tools, compared on what they publicly claim
Feature lists in this category are interchangeable. This one compares the tools on the question that actually decides whether you can defend your CV in the interview — and quotes each vendor's own words, with the date we read them.
The one question worth asking
Not "which has the better model". Ask: when the job description asks for something my CV does not support, what does the tool do? There are only three answers — invent it, leave a gap, or tell you. A tool you have not deliberately tested on that case has not been tested, because the case never arises while you are pasting in a job you already match.
That question splits the category cleanly, and not along the lines the marketing does. Tools that only analyse what you already wrote cannot invent a credential — they never author a sentence, so their worst failure is unhelpful advice. Tools that generate can, unless something constrains every written line to a fact you supplied. Of the 7 tools here, 7 author new CV text, and 3 make any public statement about what constrains it.

Who is missing, and why
Teal is a well-known product in this category and has no row. tealhq.com returned HTTP 403 to every automated request made while researching this page, on 12 August 2026 and again on 26 August. A description assembled from third-party reviews is exactly the kind of secondhand claim this page argues against, so Teal is named here instead of being characterised from sources that are not theirs.
The same rule applies to anything else you find absent: a tool is left out when its own material could not be read, never as a judgement.

For the others we found no statement either way on the pages listed in the table, which is not evidence that they fabricate — only that we could not find them addressing it in public.
- How do I test an AI resume tool for fabrication myself?
- Feed it a deliberately sparse but truthful CV and a job description demanding things that CV does not support. Read the output sentence by sentence and ask which input line supports each one. Count the sentences with no source. Placeholders and explicit gap warnings are good signs; invented numbers and quietly upgraded scope are not. Run it twice — once could be luck, twice is policy.
- Are these comparisons up to date?
- Every row carries the date its claims were last read off the vendor's own site, and a vendor file that goes more than ninety days unchecked fails this site's test suite rather than sitting quietly on the page. That rule exists because it has already caught real drift: a Huntr line about the user staying in control, recorded in research on 12 August 2026, was gone from their site by 26 August.
- You build one of these tools. Why should I trust the comparison?
- You should not have to. That is why every factual cell links to the vendor's own page rather than to a summary of it, why the table states plainly where a price could not be verified instead of quoting one from a competitor's blog, and why each page carries an honest reason to use the other tool instead.
